The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that elections will be held in the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The election will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Voting will start at 8:30 AM in all polling units across the FCT.

INEC has stated that only registered voters will be allowed to vote. A person can only vote at the polling unit where they registered. “If your name is not on the voter register, you cannot vote,” INEC warned.

To vote, a person must have a valid Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC). “No PVC, no voting,” INEC emphasized. The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used to check voter details.

People are encouraged to come out and vote. “Your vote is your power,” INEC said. The commission reminded voters to follow election rules and be peaceful during the process.
